Purpose: To offer the LONGFORD & FRASER curriculum in an individualised and/or family-friendly format.

You may wish to make an appointment from time to time to visit the concepts we cover, address a new issue, continue to build wisdom or to assist in your development to become a more resilient person. Your personal development is a lifelong journey.

We can also assist in preparations for a scholarship or job interview with some mock interview training. We have a long list of strategies/questions and skills to empower and equip a student for such an important event.

Age Group: all ages (minimum age: 8 years old).

Availability: appointments are offered Wednesday - Saturday. In school holidays there is wider availability.

Confirmation: When you reply with your date preference you will be sent a confirmation email with session details including the address in Brighton.

Siblings and parents: are warmly encouraged to attend. We have capacity for up to six people.

Session fee: $100, payable in cash or by credit card (3% surcharge). We do not watch the clock. A typical session is 1.25 hours. We conclude when everyone is content and we all feel like we have achieved something.

Cancellation: It is requested that 48 hours notice is required for a cancellation or the full fee is payable. No more appointments are made until the fee is paid. With considerate notice we can offer the appointment to another family. Thank you for your cooperation.

Private Health Insurance: you can claim sessions with Melissa if you have -

A) MEDIBANK private health insurance bonus package with ancillaries and were
a member prior to 1 May, 2011 or
B) C) Are a member of Doctor’s Health Fund:
C) From 1 July 2018 – under most Bupa HI Ancillary (extras) products
D) From 1 July 2018 – under Police Health Fund policy

Other insurers may allow claiming under “counselling". Please contact your provider.
A receipt is available upon request. The session is not covered by Medicare.

Suggested outline of sessions: The first session is a typical weekly lesson covering a wide range of EQ (emotional intelligence) and SQ (social intelligence) exercises. The session is fun, fast-moving and immediately relevant to life at school and at home.

We can tailor any future sessions to meet the student’s specific needs or, you are most welcome to nominate the programs you prefer us to cover.

Suggested frequency of appointments: every 6-8 weeks. For more regular training we offer the weekly program (eight classes for boys and girls delivered each week).

Philosophy of the individual/family sessions:

We don’t use the word “counselling” as, for some, it can have a negative connotation or some students feel like there must be something wrong with them.

So, we call it leadership coaching or resilience coaching.

Proactivity is the key. We learn best when our aeroplane is horizontal, not when we are spiralling and out of control.

You don’t attend because there is something wrong with you, you attend because there is everything right with you – however, we all need some polish.
